"करुणा ही प्रेम है ; सेवा ही धर्म है"

The Power of Attention

A decade later life will reflect what our mind focuses upon. While turning the pages back, your memories will show you the glimpse of what your heart beats for. We should be careful about what we let our heart dwell upon. Investment on one’s mind pays the best returns. Self reflection which comes with a word of self power are the subtle intangible assets. Expecting people to accept you is a short cut for disappointments and an invitation to disrespect. Some or other day those same people will make you feel a dent on your self worth. Embracing your incompleteness and short falls and still accepting every single inch of your persona is a blessing which comes with practice and patience. Forgiving yourself for sacrificing your self worth is a slow process and can be a difficult work. But once you determine to heal and become a better person for youself, all those experiences become life lessons. When you start getting attached to outcomes a part of your heart becomes extremely vulnerable and is more likely to get hurt at the end. But mind becomes so calm when you realize that the journey of those harsh realities and betrayals you went through made you wiser. You became a more valuable asset to yourself for paving the way for rest of the life. A journey which makes you give up on wrong people makes you stronger and more confident within your skin. You become a thinker who did not have a place for those thoughts yesteday. Its called growing up, getting better and flourishing as a person. No matter how heart wrenching a situation is, your conscience and rational mind must never give up on the hope of a brighter sunny morning. But the hopes you hold must be from yourself and not from the people or external situations. Getting tired of chasing an outcome is a closure. Letting people and emotional attachments go takes practice. But when you eventually process the feelings which keeps you directionless, you meet a peaceful version of you. If you go through such an experience, congratulate yourself for the life lessons you have received.

The lesson of taking back the attention on yourself to expand your abilities comes with time, acceptance and self analysis. Ultimately, the focus has to be shifted from “what life did to you” to “what you can do”.
